Meet our team
BRIAN LENEHAN
Brian is a highly skilled Chartered Physiotherapist with over 15 years of professional experience, in varying areas of physiotherapy including Private Practice, Sports Physiotherapy, Paediatric and Disability services and Care of the Elderly. In 2009, Brian gained his Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Early in his career, Brian worked with Enable Ireland Children’s Services in Kerry, focusing on children’s disability services. In 2013, he returned to his native Galway, where he took on a Senior Physiotherapist role with the Brothers of Charity Services, specialising in support for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Brian has worked closely with sports teams, including Tralee Rugby Football Club, John Mitchel’s GAA Club, Kerry, and served as the Lead Physiotherapist for Clarinbridge GAA Club for five seasons. Recently, however, he has shifted his focus to the ever-growing Back In Motion private practice, utilising his extensive experience in sports physiotherapy to benefit patients in a clinical setting. This change allows him to leverage his knowledge of injury prevention, recovery, and rehabilitation in a more personalised approach for clients of all fitness and abilities.
Brian is committed to ongoing professional development and has completed additional training courses and gained certification in Dry Needling Module 1 & 2, Pitch side Trauma and CPR to name but a few. Brian’s experience in private practice and sports injury management, along with his years in disability services, brings a wealth of expertise to his clients.
Most recently, Brian has launched a new business venture, ActivusPhysio, offering tailored exercise classes for individuals over 60, focusing on mobility, strength, and overall wellness. This venture reflects his dedication to improving quality of life across all age groups.
ALAN DALY
Alan is based in both our Claregalway and Oranmore clinics. He qualified with a Diploma in Sports Injury in 2011 and is a professional member of the Irish Massage Therapy Association (I.M.T.A). Alan quickly furthered his education by completing a certificate in functional screening, resistance training & speed endurance through Setanta College.
Alan has completed numerous courses and workshops as part of his ongoing education. He is fully certified in first aid, manual handling and dry needling. He has a great interest in lower back pain and adolescent development.
Alan divides his time working in the private sector and working with a number of teams including Claregalway GAA, Connemara Blacks RFC and Turloughmore GAA.
ROB HESSION
Rob Hession is currently finishing his final year In Athletic Rehab Therapy in TUS Athlone.
Along with this course Rob is a qualified level 3 Sports Massage Therapist from the Holistic College Dublin. He also holds a Weightlifting Ireland Level 1 coaching certificate and is a Crossfit Level 1 trainer. Rob has coached individual and team athletes on the gym floor for several years. In addition Rob is fully qualified in Emergency First Response, and Cardiac First Response.
Rob is an avid sportsman, and has competed in a variety of sports. Football with Claregalway GAA, and Hurling with Turloughmore GAA. He’s also competed in numerous Crossfit and Powerlifting competitions and also competed in Olympic Weightlifting for many years, finishing 2nd in connaught in 2019.
Rob is currently working with Turloughmore GAA, Claregalway GAA, and Monivea Rugby club.
SEAN HEAGNEY
Seán achieved a Professional Masters in Physiotherapy from Northumbria University in Newcastle and has honed his treatment skills working with the NHS in complex Neuro-elderly and surgery departments as well as in private musculoskeletal practice.
Prior to this, Seán qualified with a degree in Genetics from University College Dublin and worked in research before spending over two years coaching general population clients and high-level athletes on the gym floor as a Personal Trainer and Neuromuscular Therapist
Through these experiences, Seán has developed a strong attention to detail which compliments his injury diagnosis and rehabilitation abilities to provide the highest quality of care to his patients.
Furthermore, his continuous professional learning to improve his practice and being a published author on chronic pain, Seán understands and appreciates the importance of managing lifestyle factors which can influence our pain and injury for the better. Seán is also a keen athlete with a strong passion for hurling, weight training and enjoys the occasional sea dip.
